BYOU Insights · September 2026

What wellbeing professionals need to grow online.

A transparent review of the motivations recorded by 22 recent BYOU expert applicants, with practical implications for marketplaces, educators and independent practitioners.

Executive summary

Professionals are looking for more than exposure.

Community was the most frequently coded motivation in this small applicant group. Finding suitable clients and growing reach followed closely. The responses point to a connected need: practitioners want visibility, but they also want a credible professional context, clearer client fit and tools that preserve the personal character of their work.

This is an early BYOU evidence report. It describes people who were already considering the platform, so it does not represent every wellbeing professional. The counts are published to make the evidence usable without overstating it.

What the findings mean

Four design principles for professional growth platforms

01

Build for suitable discovery

Search visibility becomes valuable when clients can understand scope, format, price, location and the next step before making contact.

02

Treat community as infrastructure

Independent practitioners need peer learning, responsible referrals and professional belonging, rather than a promotional feed alone.

03

Make trust inspectable

Identity, qualifications, boundaries and offer details should be specific enough for a client or referrer to evaluate.

04

Support reach with control

International growth needs language, timezone, currency, availability and jurisdiction information to remain accurate.

Methodology

How BYOU produced this report

BYOU reviewed 22 recent expert registration responses available in its acquisition workspace in September 2026. Free-text motivations were coded into a fixed set of transparent themes. A response could receive several themes. The analysis used aggregated counts and excluded names, email addresses and verbatim personal answers.

Limitations

  • The sample is small and contains applicants already considering BYOU, which creates selection bias.
  • The results show theme mentions, not mutually exclusive survey selections.
  • The review cannot support market-size, country-growth or causal claims.
  • Future editions require a consistent questionnaire and a larger response base.

For practitioners

Use the report to audit your own growth system.

Choose one precise client group, publish one complete service, connect your website and trusted profiles, and measure which source brings suitable enquiries. BYOU does not promise a minimum number of bookings; it provides a public marketplace route professionals can evaluate alongside their independent channels.
